Can a glass panel cover an in-wall WC frame?

An in-wall WC frame is a very practical, tidy solution - but few people realise you can dress up its boxed-in cover with an elegant glass panel too, the same way you would a kitchen wall. Its advantages are the same: easy to keep clean, a non-absorbent surface, and nearly unlimited design freedom - from minimalist single-colour panes, through stone-look finishes, elegant black-with-gold accents, modern geometric forms, natural views, right up to avant-garde patterns. No other material offers that range.

Which glass for a WC frame

Glass for a frame enclosure needs to be a little thicker than a purely decorative wall panel - and it must be tempered. In practice, 6 mm tempered glass is usually enough, but if the WC may be used by heavier individuals (around 100 kg or more), it's worth considering 8 mm glass as a precaution.

How many cutouts are needed

The pane needs five cutouts: for the water inlet, waste outlet, two mounting bolt holes, and a hole for the flush plate. The first four are fairly standardised across most in-wall frames - size and spacing tend to match between manufacturers - but the flush-button cutout differs by supplier. That's why, if you go this route, you'll need to give us the exact position and size of that cutout.

Keep in mind these cutouts can't be made on site, whether during installation or a later renovation - all the cutting has to happen before the glass is tempered and the decorative pattern applied.
